Does anyone have a picture of 68-75 CJ5, particularly hood and windshield? I am trying to determine where the hood latch and bumpers for the windshield are located.

    Thanks,

    g

There is no hood latch on that vintage of W/S frame. They used a hood prop instead. Can probably get a pic after work today. There was a bumper for laying the windshield on the hood and a tie point to tie it down.

To fold down the windshield, there is a footman loop on the hood, and a strap. There are a pair of bumpers which stand proud of the hood.

I looked through my archive, but did not find a good pic of the hood. Maybe check pictures of the cars for sale on eBay.

O.K. Thanks guys, a picture would be great. Same bumpers as on the M38A1 windshield, or different? I'll check eBay motors.

    Regards,

The ones you describe from M38a1 are for the earlier style of windshield. Will not work on the arched glass bottom mount wiper style.

My 67 has the little thingy on the windshield frame that keeps the hood from flopping on your neck, but maybe they quit putting them on for the 68?

  8. My 68 doesn't have a hood support so if a gust of wind hits it while your wrenching it would make for a bad smack on the head. I need some windshield bumpers too, happen to have a link to the ebay ones?

Here you can see the footman loop in the center for tying down the windshield and the rests for the windshield standing up on either side and rubber coated. No windshield pics. Hope this helps.

When they went to the bottom mounted wipers with arched glass there was no longer room for the hood latch. That's when they started using the hood prop.
