I was given a partial vin number off of a 1963 willys jeep with a weight of about 2163 lbs. I am thining about buying this jeep but the owner doesnt know much about it (he inherited it and is a non jeeper ).
can anyone tell me if it is a cj3 cj5 or a comando?

    What numbers do you have?

63 would rule out Jeepster since they didn't come along until very late in the 66 model year.

Don't forget that you should have serial numbers on the top of the frame at right front just above rear spring mount.

sorry it took so long to respond. I havent seen the jeep yet it is in texas waiting for me to decide to get it , the current owner doesnt know a jeep from a barn. he sent a copy of an old registration the only had the vin of 2c2112 I am thinking this is the last six of the vin and I was told it is a 63 cj. I was looking up vin decoders and can not locate a cj with a c in the last six of the vin and not being close to the jeep I cant look at it . I am trying to figure out if I want the old girl so i figure i would ask here . I am trying to get some pics sent from the owner but he is also not PC litterate.
