Is there any way to know what the stock exterior colors were for a '63 CJ? I did a search but it turned up nothing.... Also what color were the engine and valve colors for a F134 in '63

    thanks,
    Josh

Don't worry! You're surrounded by friends! You'll get the hang of it!

You should do a build thread on your Jeep, take pictures, and show your progress!

    Cheers.

ok, and i know this isnt the correct forum for the year, but why start the same thread in another section?

    what about 76 and 79?

I think it's ok for this forum. Restoration and all.

Look at the TCP Global site for 1976: http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1976-jeep-pg01.jpg

Don't know where to find 1979. You have a '79 TSM? That will list the colors, and you can check the other years for overlap by name.

    Hi from Sydney, Australia,
In my restoration/rebuid of my early '60s CJ5 I'm nearing the point where I'll need to be painting and assembling. We cannot work out the original colour, but I'd like to have a Jeep colour of the period. I'm thinking President red #2, and I have found from several internet sites the Ditzler/PPG code is 71334. Now here's my problem: according to my local paint guy, who's an old hand, that number doesn't compute to anything in Australia - no mixing formula. He's a PPG agent and we don't have the other brands here. Does anyone know of the mixing formula for President Red #2, or maybe a current or recent colour for a current or recent vehicle that is pretty close to it? I'm only going off pictures on the web of Jeeps and swatches in the colour, but it looks great. Any advice appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Gordon

    Thanks Brettmo352,
The codes i can find on the net, like 71334, don't seem to make sense to PPG here in Australia. What I thought might be the answer would be the formula of what tints and in what amounts make up President Red. The idea you havek given me is to try to contact PPG in the US and see if they can help. I'll get back to the forum if I find out anything, as it may help someone else down the track. I'd still be grateful if anyone in the US who knows of a current color in whatever vehicle that is pretty close to President Red. That would be a solution.
    Cheers,
    Gordon
