Have not pulled it yet but same symptoms as before, little gear noise when shifting and OD won't engage. OD has been loosening up each time before, last time I installed I used medium loctite,,,,,,,,,, I have this on EBay and CL for sale and need to figure out a permenant solution . Any suggestions?????

    nickmil In mothballs.

Check the splines inside the bowl gear and the threads for wear. Also check the trans mainshaft for wear. Too much wear in the splines can allow the gear to rotate back and forth loosening up the retaining nut.

I don't want this to sound wrong, but are you gonna actually get $500 more for the Jeep with the overdrive on it? If it were mine, I would pull the OD and sell it separate. I am not saying to part out the Jeep, but unless it has 5.38 gears it should be plenty drivable without it.

Have you got a chance to check out the overdrive yet?

So you're still trying to sell it, even though you towed it to TN?

Can't see it taking long to sell on the East Coast.

Bowl gear was intact and looked good,,,,, one of the shift dogs was damaged and not allowing shift travel,,,,,, think I have spares to fix the issue, if not I'll have to order them

Mine has been doing same thing. It's at Herm's right now from an implosion.

Yeh guess it'll come down to the 6's immediate future, only time I use OD is on long trips , but is nice when needed

Much as I love my OD, I'm going to go look at a TH350 w/ D20 that has the Novak twin stick conversion on Monday. If I buy it, it would be for a next year project. Even with 5.38 gears I can't really use the OD on the highway with 35" tires.

I use my OD like a 5th gear when driving normal - I use the heck out of it wheeling to match running speed with those I am going with and getting the 'right' speed for what I am on too.

It's a pretty simple fix as well so I'll be fixing it one way or the other
