Bracket to Bow Help

Hi just me again Jon
Does anyone have any photos of how the top bows attach to this type of bracket? Also is this the original type of bracket? Thanks again.

 

I don't know what type of top this is. It is not the original top. It has no place to connect side or rear windows. You can see the bows are flattened on the end and are drilled for the bolt. I don't own this anymore so these are the best photos I can find. But the brackets are identical to the first post.

Those brackets look like standard marine style Bimini top brackets.

Note: that the snaps on Marks top match the original existing snaps on the body. I belive that its the origainal jeep Whitco tops
I know that my Kayline top from the late 1960s-early 1970s do not use the original snap locations

 

Hi. i'm doing a 1969 frame off MD Juan body swap out and I saw your note about snap locations. do you happen to know if the snaps were provided by Jeep, and are the locations "standard"?

Whitco snap locations differed somewhat with later model
They added an extra side snap on the later models. I would say 70 and up.
But the corners and back were the same
The top on the red jeep does very much look like a Whitco to me. Hardware I've never seen thou.

 

Actually after a closer look at the photos. I think it's a homemade top.

 

That is one fine looking '66(?) CJ5 you have pictured, and with the whitewalls and optional Tux turbine hubcaps,its pretty distinguished looking.

I have a nos Whitco soft top on my 68 CJ5 and the bow brackets on the body are like those pictured, cast iron, bows have flattened ends and are fastened to bracket with a bolt. Years ago (1974) I installed a new Whitco on a Jeep I had at the time and by that time the bow brackets had been changed to stamped sheet metal but functioned the same.
