A buddy of mine recently bought a 80 ish cj7 with a glass tub and all original running gear. unfortunately the frame was funky in the rear. rebuilding it with square tubing this is today's progress. we drove it in the shop saturday at noon.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

NIce work....but why you just don't fab the whole frame instead of replacing the rear?

    Keep on going !!!

nice job and a pretty quick turnaround it seems...

im going to make a rear bumper/cross member for mine...

i was thinking maybe 3 x 2.5 x 1/8... or something similar... nip the corners and add plates to make it a tube...

did you use POR on it?

    that stuff is AMAZING

Seeing that frame rot brings back some memories...I sure don't miss being in the rust belt and seeing my trucks disappear flake by rusty flake... Good save!

yup it was a pretty quick turn lack of a vehicle will motivate you some, specially when hes driving your spare... and nope on the por did the inside with hoopers undercoat(drain oil and canning wax heated and applied warm) the outside of the frame is cheap equipment paint, the body is DuPont cromabase base with nason clear(also DuPont). i prefer a channel bumper capped looks like tube but holds no dirt.
