1964 Tuxedo Park question

Here goes my question...did they offer a twin stick option on the Tuxedo Park models...??? Theres' a 64 with the chrome bumpers (painted)) and center license plate holder with chrome light assy., yet the vin starts with a 5754. Has bucket seats, not bench and also vin states it came with a 6 cyl, yet pics show a 4 cyl. So were the tuxedo park options available to order on a regular cj5? Thanks. And I actually spent the last hour looking through older posts for some insight on this...anyone recognize that type of winch...??? Thanks again.

Well the V6 for the CJ5's didn't come out until 66 and the tux would have had the T-86 tranny with single shift transfer. Know nothing about your winch but I would say that is not the modern design

Really not enough info there to determine if it's a Tuxedo or not. The early ones, I believe, did not have special VIN prefixes. V6 would not be correct for '64. Nor, I believe, would the twin stick in a Tuxedo Park. Many parts get swapped around on JEEPs. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the motor and trans were replaced somewhere along the line, along with the seats, etc., etc. I do think I see a reddish or pinkish steering wheel. Indian Red ceramic? I think the Tuxedo was the only model with that matching steering wheel in IRC. There is lots of info here if you use the search.

Is it possible this is really a Tux III that some one has changed the vin tag on? I wonder. Just a thought. It has too many tux features for it not to be.

I see in the guide written here it is a 1963 CJ-5...so it might actually be a Mk III, am I reading this info right?

 

I ended up buying this Jeep...now just looking at payment and arraigning shipping...I'd like to flat tow it, but its not too much more to have it shipped from the other side of the state here...that might be the smarter thing to do...I'll post some pics once I have her here... Looks like the previous owners didn't care or didn't know what it was but can't figure why any one would paint over chrome. I think you have most of the Tux hard to find parts already there. That taillight/plate assy is a very hard to find part. Been looking for a few years now.

 

I've actually seen where painting the chrome helps preserve it. Atleast here in the rust belt. Get the paint off the parts and see if it's decent. Nice score by the way.

Nice score! Regarding the winch, I've seen similar ones converted from Military surplus bomb winches and other industrial winches. Definitely not main stream. I even had one that had been built using an aircraft starter motor.

 

Wow, its actually not in as great a shape as I thought....Oh well, such is my luck. The winch perch/support is welded in between the front frame rails, so have to figure how to tackle that donw the road...well we see how this all turns out...

 

I still have one made from a 24V bomb winch motor (B-52 was told) runs good on 12V. I checked it's gear ratio many years ago and seem to remember around 600 to 1. Think it weighs in at about 200! Power in and out. No free release..
