Mirrors: passenger and driver interchangeable?

Can the mirrors in this kit go on either side? or are they side specific?


I'm trying to install a mirror on the passenger side and I can't get the proper position. I know I'm suppose to look through the windshield. The way the tube is bent, the mirror faces out no matter how I position the arm. Is it okay to bend the arms in the correct position? I'm thinking maybe what I have is for the driver's side...

 

Use the passenger side mirror by looking through the windshield at it. It's located way forward of the driver's side mirror - hence the funny bend.

 

Yes you view the right mirror through the windshield. They have the correct bend. The one on the right of your photo is the RH mirror.
This is the best angle I could find on my 71 (sold). My 65 and 67 have a single mirror.

 

Agree.. I always had trouble with the passenger side mirror not being in the right position. I still had to lean some to see through it.. I know this isnt your issue, but On my current jeep, It didn't come with any side mirrors at all but I did have a spare passenger side mirror laying around.
What I did was cut the arm in half, turned it around, and welded jt back up so I could use it on the driver side. Worked out great..

You seem to be knowledgeable on mirrors.... My 66 has (or what is left of) a two bolt pattern rearview mirror at the top center of the windshield. I need to replace it but all the mirrors I find in the catalogs and online are three bolt pattern. Got any suggestions??

Put an ad in the classifieds? Someone here may have a good used correct one.
Might try some of the folks who specialize in early stuff like Walck's, Peter Debella's Jeep Parts, etc. look in the "where to buy parts" sticky thread at the top of each section.

I currently have two "Driver side" (no bend) mirrors, one on each side. I just have to mirrors next to the windshield on both sides, as opposed to the "Correct" through the windshield view.

I strongly recommend the mirror arm with the bend for the passenger side. I don't like my setup and I keep saying I'm gonna order brand new mirrors and start over.

 

I do not care much for the look of the square mirrors with the odd bends. Took some old truck mirror brackets and cut them down to about 8 inches, about where the bend is on yours. Put on some 5" round convex mirrors and am pretty pleased with the rear view. It is a JEEP not a 20 foot box truck.
P.S. I do not have doors or side curtains, am sure that makes a huge difference.

My plan B was to weld some angle iron brackets on the side of my old hinges without mirror holes and just use a standard truck mirror head L bracket.

 

i dont like the look of the mirrors being at different angles and i mounted spot lights on the windsheild frame making the passenger mirror usless in the normal configuration. i turned the passenger side arm 90* and redrilled the mounting hole on the windsheild side. then i tweeked the angle on the mirror side of the arm. now both sides look the same.
