Is that bolt coming out the side of the the back of the below picture where my reverse light switch goes. What's funny is I've owned my Jeep for a year and up until I installed a new wiring harness a week ago always thought it had reverse lights? Guess I was wrong :D.

    sailorjeeper What... me worry?

That does look like the remains of a back-up light switch. It's in basically the same place as the one on my T-14 is.

Great I think I may have just gotten lucky for the first time on the Jeep.

Jeep or International - same switch. We put one in for my neighbor and the T90, T86, and T14 all worked with the same switch.

What kind of wire terminal hooks to the terminals on the switch itself they look very odd?

Same connector terminal as the hydraulic (in-line) brake light switch.

In a pinch you can use two female spade connectors.

On the Daughter's '70 (T-14, same switch) I used an older GM A/C compressor connector. Harrison R-5 compressor from the late '80's early '90's iirc. If you do this you have to remove the resistor between the two terminals or the lights will stay on. Fits right on.

Or solder leads to the posts and use bullet connecters. Good solder technique required though ... you could melt the switch otherwise.

Guys, you can use Borg Warner # S395
Echlin (NAPA) ECH NS6581 that has two terminals with shafts that you can put #8 nuts on, and put ring connectors on your wires.

Doubtful that any T-98s had it. There may be a cast-in boss in the right place though.

I suspect that you could use a shift top from a '70s T-18 which would have a backup light switch. This would have to be the over-and-up reverse T-18, and I would guess that you'd have to use the T-98 shift forks.

Much easier just to put a switch on the dash. I'd add a reminder that would beep or blink while the light was on...

  17. Where can I get one of those for my CJ 1971?

Which? The switch or a t-18 shifter top? A shifter top should be available used from r&p, partsmike, hermtheoverdriveguy, etc
