revolver shackles

just wondering if anybody is using revolver shackles
i think im going to build a set of my jeep and was wondering if anyone had luck with them

There a gimmick, they help on the RTI ramp but no were else. Its useless articulation...

To get traction on a tire you need to have some portion of the vehicle weight on that tire.

The only time the revolver opens is when the suspension is fully unloaded. When there is no weight on the tire---> No traction. Basic laws of friction here...

I won't even get into how it negatively effects suspension dynamics, pretty well covered in the other treads.

x2 on the gimick/rti thing,,,, there are other ways to flex a 5 safey,I went cj7 spring which are longer and wider.

 

the op isn't interested in function, merely in hearing those opinions about the revolvers with which the op agrees.

I run them. I think it's a good improvement if you want a bit more of articulation without replace leaf springs, arches, etc. It's easy and fast to put them on and the capabilities off road are inmediate improved.

They have an other improvement, as they are articulating they filter the pavement irregularities helping to run a smoother suspension still with stock hard springs.

I've run them for many miles without any problems braking fast, even in high way. They never opens as many urban legends says.

Summarizing, if you want keep your stock springs and make an easy and fast improvement go for them, they really works. This is a personal appreciation, of course.

i was thining of building the revolver part and not making them drop so they have all the spin and all the traction of the normal shackle

 

You know, while searching for suspetion parts for my build, i ran across as set of shackle hangers that had a heim joint where the shackle bolts to the mount. It allows your springs that extra bit of twist at the end of your suspetion cycle. As for the revolvers, I would have to agree that the extra drop is about 90% usless and running them could be purdy dangerous. If you end up making some like you said without the drop in them, be sure to post it up in the builds area so we can check em out.
