1971 cj5 - oil bath air cleaner question.

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by the last early cj5, Jan 21, 2010.

  1. Hi,

I've been trying to find a bracket for my 1971 cj5 Oil bath air cleaner. I believe it goes attached to the passengers side fender. Does anyone have any idea where can I find it?

    Thanks,

I won't speak for all '71s, but mine has a dry paper element type filter that fastens to the carburetor neck only. Wait...do you have an L4 or a V6? You might research older CJs (at this site) and get an idea of what your part should look like. You may be chasing something homemade.

My '71 V-6 still has the factory stock dry paper air cleaner assy... Pics of your set-up may help.

I'm afraid that while the parts manual shows the bracket it doesn't seem to list the part number but here's the drawing anyhow-

I'd suggest placing a want add on here in the classifieds or on the Willy's Tech page, there's usually a couple of ads current on there from people parting out a large number of jeeps.

  5. Thank you very much for your help guys. The diagram helps a lot :). And yes that is the bracket i'm looking for. I cant find it anywhere.

I will trying posting it on the want ad. I am trying little by little to restore my jeep and i want it to look as most original as it can.

    Thanks,
