Okay, I have read a much earlier thread about the correct Pertronix kit for the Fhead 134.....and visited the Pertronix site. Best I can tell 2 kits were made one for the Fhead 134 with the Autolite distributor(kit#2541) and one for those with Prestolite distributor( kit#1548 ) which kit fits depends on which dizzy you have.
Well I can't figure which one I have. No labels or numbers that I can see are present. Used a mirror to see all sides and cleaned the gunk off where the numbers usually are on the tab just before the shaft AND nothing. I have a pic of the dizzy guts if this will help someone identify it.

if the tag is missing you are pretty much sol. so i will try to help by asking a question for the others to chime in on. does the prestolite and autolite distributer use the same cap? or the same points? or do they use the different? i will look at your picts and get back with you

Same problem here, X. Service manual for my 60 says it's one of the two. However, doing the same exercise you have, bunch of inet research - durnd if I can find out how to differentiate the two. I'm in DC on business, but I can post some pics next weekend. Thanks, kaiser.

Need to host them to a site like photobucket. Then link the photo here in your post. If you use the right link then the pic shows up in the post but is hosted by the site the pic is on.

If all else fails with the Pertronix, Walck's carries a complete electronic distributor for a comparable price. I have a Pertronix in my '48, and the electronic distributor in the '64. I'm happy with both.

Don't mean to hijack here, I have contemplated swapping out my points for a Pertronix unit. I have used them in the past, and they are awesome, but with the age and the wear and tear on these old distributors, it would make sense to spend the extra fifty bucks and get a new electronic distributor.

dohc281 It is what it is.

I installed the Pertronix in the original dist for the engine & have had no problems.

I've got an Autolite IAD4041 in my '56. I'm considering an ignition upgrade such as Pertronix (unable to find correct application tho), MSD or similar ignition box or electronic dist. What exactly is this electronic dist you guys are talking about? My brother pt a DUI unit in his 225 and loves it. Is this the same type of thing?
