Hi there, new to the forums and looking for some help. :)
I've got a 75 JC5 and I'm looking for aftermarket seats and brackets for them. The only thing I've been able to find is 76 and up. Anyone know who makes seats and brackets for this year?

    Thanks!

    Excellent fab work..

Do you have anything that holds the seat down like the factory does?

Thanks. My plan for the hold down is just mating steel tabs, one on the bracket and one on the floor, with aligned holes and a hitch pin thru the holes.

The only source for factory-style brackets is another Jeep, AFAIK. Your best source would be from a wreck or part-out Jeep. Only the brackets from a '72-75 CJ will work. Where are you located?

I suggest you search the archives for discussion of seats. I thought the consensus on the Bestop low-backs was not very positive. The factory buckets with the fold-and-tumble passenger seat are quite comfortable IMO. One option is to find a ratty set and have them rebuilt/recovered at a local upholstery shop. Not cheap, but probably on par with aftermarket seats.

    Thanks for the reply's.
    I'm located in Northern California.
The jeep currently has the factory 60/40 front bench (in need of some attention). What I was looking to do was get some new buckets from Bestop or Corbeau but didn't see an option for mounting them. Looks like what most people have done is custom fab something. I'm ok with this but wanted to see if there was something available prior to going down this road.

You could try J&W Jeep Parts in Antelope CA (near Sacramento). They might trade or partly trade the bench seat and brackets for the buckets from the same era.

    Make your own brackets.

Basically, they are 4WD brackets that I built that are slanted to the rear, vice level. I think they look cleaner than the stock seat brackets, and they don't mount to the lip of the doorhole.

Me? I HATE lowback seats. I bought 76+ Besttop trailmax seats, unbolted the BACKS from the seat bottoms, removed the upholstery, clopped about 4" out of the middle of the seats, and moved the seatback mounting tabs BACK about 4". This made them fit in my 75. (If you dont do this mod, the bus steering wheel would be 5" from the seat!

Now, don't get me wrong, if you have lowback seats that are in good shape, it would make sense to go for a regular stock type bracket. It all depends on what you want.

I didn't know that CJ-5's offered 60/40 bench front seat????

    spud Nope..it's not finished!

Did you do a wheel house notch too???

I have a '75 and a glass tub as well. Fabricating seat brackets is quite simple.
But, if you have excessive girth, the wheel house notch is comfort requirement!!

Yes, lots of discussion and probably some pictures in earlier posts. It was optional equipment, in lieu of the buckets. Continued up to the end of the run, AFAIK.

Nope, no notch. I'm a pretty skinny guy, and there is "enough" room. (The seats are in a fixed position...)

I just got a 4WD Hardware catalog - it has some seat brackets for int. year jeeps - do not look like the ones on my low-back buckets - may fit your bench.
