Happy Birthday, youngster. Ha Ha Have you been shooting all your paint outside? Did you tent any of it off for spraying? I'll be spraying mine in a couple of weeks. Just curious.

I painted most of the JEEP in the shop with all the walls draped in plastic and everything covered. Used a box fan with a ac filter in front of it. and setting under the garage door with plywood on each side.

I did do the windshield frame and roll bar outside. Used 6 mil plastic to make a tent on the end of the shop.used the same fan setup.
I do not have any pictures of the tent but here is the sandblast tent setup. I used the same wires to hang the plastic.
You can see one in the front of the picture.

I did not want to drap the inside of the shop for just the frame and bar. And some small parts.

Thanks for the info, Andrew. I've got one of those tent type carports from Costco. I'm going to put up the frame and cover it with plastic to paint the tub. It's 10' x 20' so I should have plenty of room. I like the idea of using the fan w/ filter. How many coats of paint did you use on the tub? I'm buying my paint in the next week or so, I have no idea how much to buy.

I bought 2 gallons of paint. now I painted the under side, inside, outside, the shop floor, jackstands,(mixed to much paint but not able to use on the jeep)
    Used about 5 quarts.

Also will be painting the tool box that goes in the jeep.
You will have to change the filter every time you go to spray, I use the cheep ones. Still got a little paint on the fan blades.

Here is ware I bought the paint, went with the single stage kit, about $80.00

You can see the filter/fan in the lower right corner.

Most of the time I would let the fan run for 15 min after I finished spraying the closed the garage door and turned up the heat to help dry the paint.

Thanks for the info, Andrew. I'm not painting the inside (except under the dash) or the underside. It's getting bedliner inside and undercoat down under. I should be good with about a gallon.

Need to finish the trans cover plate so I can finish spraying the liner.
I am using a liner called Raptor, It is a 2 part mix and you spray it on, it has a little texture not ruff like some that feel like sandpaper.
If anybody wants close up pictures of the liner I can get some.

Some thing that still need to be done.
Fuel lines and rear filler hose.
    Ebrake cable put back in.
Fluids in rad, power steering, trans.
    Rear wiring hooked up.
Finish front disk brakes. front brake hosed, bleed master cylinder.

Let's see some close up pictures of the bedliner. I just purchased a kit of the U-pol Raptor myself but I won't be ready to spray it for a couple of months yet. How do you like it so far?

This is the second time I used it, Did dads commando last year.
The kits are only about $120.00 for a full gallon and gun. Cleans up with lacquer thinner.

It ius not as thick as the Rhino liner, but is about the same thickness most of the DIY liners.
    Will get some closeup pictures.

If one wanted to, could one color sand that paint then buff? Just curious as I am doing my cj5 and am hoping for a high gloss finish w/ single stage urethane paint. Looks awesome.....Very inspiring.

Yes my dad did get another jeep. After he sold the Comando,s he said did not want do another one but after a few months he was out looking.
He looked at a 49 Willys pickup, and the a 39 Olds. that a guy at church want to get rid of.
We found a 48 CJ2A only a couple blocks from the hous.
It is a half cab and also a lefty (look at the CJ2A side as to what this is.)

I think I have some pictures of it when it was brought home.

He dove right in and got the engine out and rebuilt. It does takee him a while to do this as he is 78 years old.
