Possible or not? I can't seem to find anything about a difference in spline count if there is one. Looking at Unclebill's hubs for a cheap addition to the Mistress. TIA :)

Should be 10 spline hubs for both.

the very early models like on my 46 2a have a threaded axle on the end which needs to be cut off to work with warn hubs

OUCH. Cutting the threaded end off from the early Bendix / Rzeppa axle shafts may cause problems like ....
    Zero inward float control.
That means the joint center is unregulated in the hemisphere which leads to binding/ breakage.

To my knowledge one should never cut the threads off an early Bendix type outer shaft. Period.

From my experience you might get by cutting the threads off an early Rzeppa type shaft. But ...
Only if your axle has a Powr Lok or equivalent differential with the spacer center block being used to control inward end float.

For post CJ-2A Jeeps outward axle shaft float control is be provided by a bronze spindle bushing with the thrust shoulder.

good call. i thought that could be a possibility but its been discussed before and the general consessus is that its ok. I didnt have to cut mine off because i have superwinch hubs but there is still nothing keeping it from going in. I havnt had any problems in 8 years of driving it like that in 4wd most of the time. I dont know what type of shafts i have in it. Iv also seen countless hubs without the c clip on the shaft but those were all later models. But iv never had my axles apart far enough to know the inner workings so you could be more right than me.
