I also said "expense", that's my main concern. I can find all sorts of transmissions, it's the expense when I find it that concerns me... monkeys :D

Looks like a great project to start from. I'd keep both jeeps as two are better than oneR) Good luck on the new project can't wait to see updates.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, if I had two I'd have a flatfender and a CJ-5 though. ;)

Nice score! that 5 is really clean! depending on your time frame I might have a rebuilt t14 out of my dads 67 at some point, I have a sm420 waiting in the shop for his.

    Re: My newest project

So as tempting as a 4 speed conversion sounds I think I'm gonna go with a three speed. Hoping the axles that are in it are in good condition and put an OD in somewhere down the road I think.

Examining my driving habits I like to just drive the Jeep around on nice days and on back roads. Yeah, I take it to Tuttle Creek but not enough to justify the added work and expense of the 4 speed swap. Especially not for the kind of stuff that we do up there. I've driven Dondo's A1 w/ the T90 and 5.38s w/ a V6, that impressed me enough off-road, I think I'll be happy with that. More importantly, it's the path of least resistance, I can be driving the Jeep sooner and more easily.

Well, that and the fact that I just said I was going to use a 3-speed so I don't need a SM420. ;)

Thats what I've got and am plenty happy with what my heep can do. The OD makes it great to drive on the road too. Plenty of times I have driven from the Rubicon to Gilroy (5 hour drive at 65-70 mph one way).

With 5.38's you'll be golden. Quite honestly, I don't know how I did some of the things I did with 3.73's and a three speed.

Yeah, I had that in my '62 as well as driving yours Don.

    W/ a V6 like Dondo has it's pretty sweet.

    Re: My newest project

For some reason I can't stop thinking about an early-wheelbase, fiberglass bodied, 350 Buick powered JEEP lately. I'd put in saginaw steering with a later column, later windshield, maybe some diamond plate rocker guards. Can't quite put my finger on why, just sort of popped into my head as of late.
