I hope to get my Dana 20 PTO adapter installed soon, I plan on using it to drive an auxiliary P/S pump for my hydraulic winch. I have been looking for a picture or drawing of how the shifter mounted.

I have several ideas on how to fab something up, but I hoped to see what it was supposed to look like, before I butcher things.

aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

It never occured to me a D20 might have a PTO. I know they were fairly common with a D18. But never seen one with a D20.

Both Koenig and Ramsey made PTO winches for the D20

When I lived in So Cal there was a Jeep dealership just down the street from the Northrop plant in Anaheim. They had a display of a D20 PTO winch complete with driveshafts, and a $1000 price tag,
This was in the late 80's. it was way out of my price range. But I have always wanted a D20 PTO,

I bought this one from ebay in 04. If all goes well I'll get it installed this winter.

That Jeep dealership is still there, under a different name now. You talking about the Northrop on Orangethorpe? They're long gone. back in like 82 I dated a girl who's father worked there R)

Yep, Thats the one. I also worked there, from 83 til they closed the plant. Transferred to the to the Hawthorne facility, and left them and moved back here in 89.

I have been out there since a couple of time to visit relatives, drove past the facility,it's just strip malls now.

Been a long time since I've seen one of those PTO's. How much does it hang down? Enought to affect your ground clearance?

Doesn't seem like a PTO will turn a PS pump fast enough to build much pressure. The pto shaft turns at nowhere near the speed of the engine, even in hi gear.

    nickmil In mothballs.

The Jeep model 20 pto's used a cable system with a bracket that mounted under the dash, at least the one's I've had did. Common mod to mount the cable through the dash. I don't have any pics though. There was a bracket bolted to the pto unit that would clamp and hold the cable housing and allow adjustment very similar to the mount that holds a manually operated choke cable on a carburetor. Obviously much beefier and larger cable though.

I kind of figured I'd end up using a cable system, I saw one setup that used a push/pull thru the floor lever, but it was located right between the seats and I have a console there

I actually thought this might be a problem, if it is, I plan on running the output to a pulley system to increase the speed
