I have a pretty nice Spen S utility tailer, it's in great shape overall but is missing the landing leg. Does anyone have a photo, drawing or dimensions of one? Also, mine has hubcaps, but someone painted them olive drab just like the rest of the trailer. What color scheme should the wheels/hubcaps be? I know the trailer was kind of a hunter green when it left the factory because I can see it underneath the olive drab on the bottom of the trailer. It does not have a data plate either.

    Here's a photo of it:

Here is a black and while photo. Hubcaps look chromed, and my recollection of the last color photo I saw of a restored Spen is that the lettering on the hubcaps was black.

As for a landing leg, you will probably need to make your own. Does your trailer still have the landing leg pivot? If not, regular internet searches of parts for sale here, G503.com, the Yahoo Bantam group website, Craigs List, etc. may turn up the parts someday. Probably and exercise of patience and luck.

Thanks for the kind words about my photo, photography is what I do for a living. I shot that a few years ago, it's kind of our front yard. Here's another shot of the jeep on our wedding day.

No, it does not have any of the landing leg left. Was it similar to the Bantam Civilian trailer? There are several of those around here I could copy from. I wonder how hard it'd be to re-chrome the hubcaps...they have a few pits in them!

I had a '73 Buick Apollo bumper that was twisted 90* straightened and re-chromed for $250 a couple years ago, and you would never know. Those hubcaps shouldn't be bad at all as long at they are not rotted out.

I'm doing great. I was hoping to hear from you on this. There is so little info around on these things and it's very hard to find photos of a nicely restored example. I'm going to e-mail the guy with the one on e-bay and see if he has more clear photos of the landing leg.

Thanks 2a, that's the best photo I've seen of a restored Spen. I'll try to find Louie Larson to get his input. I was thrilled to find this trailer of mine so intact.

Bob, did you happen to get ahold of Louie Larson? I got a Spen trailer today and have a few questions. If you could PM me his email, that would be great! One question, maybe you know. What is the wheel bolt pattern? I check and mine is not 5 on 5.5, it appears to actually use bolts to hold the wheels on. Any info is appreciated!!

I did not find him yet, but I think the bolt pattern could be ordered to correspond with whatever vehicle you were driving, so you only had to have one spare.
