How do we do a search fo r our jeeps vin numbers to find out the jeeps history? I have plates on my firewall driver side for my 2a and they don't seem to match the numbers on my title. Is this correct/normal. I'm a little concerned. Can I apply for a new title and own two jeeps? Can I change my current title?

Well from what I could gather record keeping details were not all that big of a deal back then. R) The vin on my title is no where even close to anything for the year it says it is or any year for that matter.:? It doesn't even look like a vin number that would be used other than that it starts with a JXXXXX.monkeysmonkeysmonkeys

That's a problem! Means if you get in an accident or something they could say you arent titled. What # is on your title and whats on your Jeep?

You can always purchase reproduction vin plates and stamp them with the vin number that is on title.

That would be much easier than trying to change the actual title or applying for a new title. Just get some new data plates for your 2a and stamp them with the numbers on your title.

Where do I get the new plates from? And do they stamp them or do I have to stamp them.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

the number on my title matches nothing left with my Jeep.
The title had the original engine number on it from the L134.
I guess the engine number or frame number could have been used back then.
It since has had the F4 and now the V6.
At least the numbers on the frame and the number on the tag matched.

Here is one source for data plates. He has all kinds. He will stamp them also. I got a set from him awhile back. Good quality, real pleased with product and service.

aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

Depends on the state as to what vin you put on. If it's an exact match of the orgional vin on the car, it should not be an issue. But when the title and car shows different vins, what do you use? Depends on the state.

What kind of numbering system did they use for the frames?
