My jeep has always leaked from the oil pan (rear main and the tranny transfer case) BUT TODAY IT STARTED LEAKING very BADLY (TWICE AS MUCH AS THE DAY BEFORE!) I did some hill climbing the other day and wondered if the tranny leaked into the transfer case and now the tranny is low and the transfer case is over full? Anyone experienced this? Will check the level tonight.:?

What transmission and t-case do you have?

If it's a T90 with Dana 18 then they do communicate and fluid can go back and forth. But it should equal out after being on the level for a little bit. But you shouldn't leak from that I wouldn't think. Probably a rear seal in the differential.

The leak looks to be out of the transfer case. It has always had a few drops but all of a sudden it is puddling 90 weight oil?? What are to common areas to check for the leaks? Front seal where drive shaft enters? Rear seal? I kain of looks like a leak on the front seal (drive shaft and running down and dripping from the drain plug?
    :?

It is not coming from the differentals. It drips off the lowest point from the transfer case.

I cleaned the transfer case off and found the leak to be in the front out of the driveshaft seal. Is this common?

my D18 has a minor leak at the front yoke seal...seems commen on the ones I've seen

ps...I'm sure someone who's more knowledgable will reply but I think you can drop the driveline, use an impact to remove the yoke, and replace the seal w/o dropping the TC

Yes, that is where it seams to be leaking after cleanning and looking for drops. I am sooooo glad it will not require a tranny/tranfer case removal.
