Anyone know if the brake end of '73 Parking Brake Cables are the same as '76-'77?
I think they are the same as these from Inline Tube . . .

Anyone have other suggestions for replacement?

Might be - don't know. I'd think more likely not, since the Corporate 20 backing plates are different from the Dana 44 backing plates.

I'm thinkin' they are the same.

I just installed a cable I got from 4wd parts. The one pictured above looks kinda like the original that froze up. Hard to tell with a small pic and old eyes. A bigger pic would be a big help if possible. The one I got from 4wd has a heavy black coating, no exposed spring, and I'll betcha it is kind of a universal fit deal. It went in fine, works ok, brake end the same.

I installed it concurrently with new shoes and hardware, using the old drums, which I hit with some sandpaper. Brakes themselves work great, however the ebrake seems to hold the jeep much better from rolling forward than backward. I'm hoping the issue is just a matter of getting enough use on the brakes to get the shoes to conform to the drums better, because right now the ebrake doesn't help much when starting from a stop on a steep uphill. Kind of an important function when you live in the mountains! If it doesn't improve, I'm gonna have to start a thread to see if I installed wrong.

I'm a little leery about the 4WD one's (although they are OMIX parts). I ordered the front cable from them and got one 2 feet short. I sent it back and got the same cable on the second try!

With my SOA conversion I need to make some changes and thought I'd use a hand brake mounted on the door side of the drivers seat so I ended up keeping the short front cable but now I need one long cable and one short to make the new location work.
