I'm sure someone on here knows the answer to my question. i have a ?cj5? that has the battery box lid on the pass. side cowl but is fixed and non removeable only the lid not the complete drop in box for the battery. the battery mounts on a tray between the pass. fender well and the motor. and the hood has the the plate that fills in the whole on the pass. side for the snorkel. so my question is was the tub and hood m38a1 left over parts. ok i know the pictures will add more credit to me and the story of buying this jeep. but i bought from a man for 75.00 dollars. i was into flatties and he asked me if i wanted this jeep. after looking at it i told him to take it to the junkyard. he asked me if i would give him 75 bucks for it. the lock outs i thought were worth that. oh and it had a 43-44 model mb willys L-head flat head four in it with one side having a homemade motor mount.

OK IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE THE BLUE 61 CJ5 IN A COUPLE OF THREADS DOWN. THANKS FOR THE PICTURES I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST MINE.

If you're saying the battery and lid are on the passenger side cowl...yes that's M38A1.....the cover for snorkel on the hood came on both

Well, it's M38a1 leftover, but if the lid is fixed, and no actuall box, it's CJ...

fixed plate on cowl,no bat box under cowl= cj  look for a recess on passenger side behind fender about 6" to 8" round,if its there you cant miss it its a m38a1 if not its a cj, look at the frame rails on the front where bumber bolts up if they are boxed its a a1 if not cj
