Dang Mike! I just read every post from way back a couple years ago. Awesome work! I really wish I had the patience and know how to do fab work like that. I love the color too. Everything looks really well done. Congratulations.

Took the afternoon in the garage - and it took all afternoon to get the tranny cover and shifter boots reinstalled....

You can also see the floormats I made from a 4x8 truck bed mat that I bought at TSC. They're really thick - I think one mat outweighs the carpet.

Essentially once I put the pedals back in I should be able to bleed the brakes and be on the road.

    Pretty slick looking.

Why did you go with carpet instead of just the mats, or a spray in liner?
    I assume cost?

    Oh gosh...that's all back about 50 pages...R)

    Essentially:

Spray in liner == too much $$. And I spent hours...HOURS...getting out the Herculiner that the PO put in. After all that the appeal of any kind of bed liner was not great.

I like the looks and livability of carpet. This rig won't see much hard-core off-roading, less so with gas prices. Carpet covers alot of pitted floor metal, poor welds, and patches. I did the interior paint and it didn't get done quite right - I'm afraid it would scratch easily if not covered.

I have ~$80 in the carpet - and it's not attached in at all. If I don't like it down the road I can easily yank it and just run the mats.

    Mike,

I am sure somewhere in those previous 50R) pages you've mentioned it but where did you get the twin stick boot? Is that a currie?

I knew someone would ask that.....and I have no idea what it is...it came on the Jeep when I bought it. It's several times nicer than the crap boots I've gotten from the Jeep vendors in the past.

    Kewl.

I never considered the difficulty of taking out the bedliner if a repair was needed (ie:big rock)
That is something to keep in mind.

Sweet. That's clean work, Mike. I think I'm going to take the wire wheel to the inside of my tub this fall.

Small detail - but I had the Cross Enterprises tire carried modified to lower the spare by 3" - it just looked too high before and just about completely blocked my rear view. Now the tire is centered on the upper body edge and it just looks more balanced. Can't really tell how much more I can see out the back - will have to drive it to tell that.

Will probably have to move the license plate now - considering putting in the middle of the spare since I already have a little receiver tube there.

I was not allowed to get my hands dirty...so gave it and the garage floor a quick scrub....soo good to see this thing sitting outside again...and to be able to look at it from different angles.

Oh gosh...not sure yet. It's running ragged - hopefully just a fouled plug. And brakes need some adjustment - hoping the rod from the pedal into the MC can take up some slack. The brakes catch well just with the pedal about 1" off the floor.

We have a house to paint and landscaping rock to bring in...and I don't know how much this finger issue is going to slow that down. Plus the basement still....

Really hoping to be able to get the house issues under control and get back to it in early August. There's a cruise night over in Grand Rapids I'd love to have it painted up for. Going to scuff up the Bantam and shoot it at the same time.
