I am installing Heim joints on my steering like the Modification listed in the tech library. But I ran into a little problem. When I drilled out the knuckle to accept the 5/8's bolt, I was very careful to make sure I drilled straight with the orginal line. However once installed I noticed the top heim joint prevents the drum from going on fully. By about 1/4 ". If I had noticed this sooner I could have drilled the hole more perpendicular, If I do that now there will be a chance the toe in can move under stress. The easiest thing I can think of is to have the drums edge turned back....... would a machine shop be able to do that?

You might look for some non-finned 11" drums - they don't extend as far as the finned versions do.

I've done the Heim joint conversion on 2 D27's and didn't have that problem. They both had 10" brakes. Is that what you have?

x2 on the unfinned drums or go for discs while your at it. Maybe even a good excuse to go for a 30?
