I've been watching some other threads, and there seems to be problems out there with Bestop products. Ol' Gus has never has a soft top and I really want to go to that type top.

I was thinking about a Bestop super top, but now I have reservations. Anyone had problems with these? Any good alternatives that are still being manufactured?

I have had tonneau covers on my pickups for years, and I have learned to hate snaps (especially in cold weather). So, I wuz really looking for a non snap alternative if another exists.

My besttop has snaps only on the tailgate. The rest of it is held in with a tab. Once everything is set, it works well.

My supertop has been on now for about 9 years. No problems really that couldn't be attributed to age. You saw mine at Windrock Russ, you followed my red Jeep around quite a bit.

    Thanks all. This was helpful.

Mike - I followed you, but it was mostly from afar as we had to stop a keep slapping my carb with a rock to unstick the float R)

I think I will go the supertop route.

Only problem I have had with mine is when I ran it into a sharp edge on my lights in the garage :( It has had as much as a foot and half of snow on top of it with no problems. Mine is completly snapless for my aplication, but would use a few snaps across a tail gate. Nice Top!

Just a thought, but alot of the problems people have with a soft top fitting correctly may be traced to the distortion of their Jeep tub over it's lifetime. when I went to put the supertop on the $ sink, I found that the measurements of the tub from one side to the other were different. I worked out a reference point to mount the top to make it fit best, but the problems stemmed from my tub not the top. $.02

Supertop is the way to go, Russ. I bought one for speedy a couple of years ago and was very happy with it. Ask Duke, I'm sure he likes it too ;)

I had a old tigertop on mine for a few years then got a used supertop, I like the half doors available with the ST. Fitment is a pain, follow directions. Oh yeah, the door latch catch tears my tee shirts sometimes.

The only alternativer manufacturer to Bestop was the Specialty Top Company, but they're closing the doors. I understand that selling the company might be an option, but its a wait and see thing now.

No experience with the Tigertop, my Supertop on the otherhand has been great. My two issues are the damn door strikes - ripped two suit pockets now. And Bestop should use stainless on their entire line - door handles are just now starting to rust. I'm going to go downstairs right now and repalce those screws with stainless before breakfast.
