For some reason, when the PO completed the buildup, he did not put one in. Makes having a manual tranny vehicle a pain. Where is yours located? On the floor next to the clutch or in the center by the shifter. Got any PICs of the location? This what he did in the area I think it is, so I think I will have a lot of work if it has to go next to the clutch.

Kick pedal where vour speaker is. May be tough to fit it with the roll cage; certainly the stock release won't fit.

Hot rod shops sell lever types that you could mount between the front seats, or maybe take one from a small car.

In my state it's illegal not to have a parking brake. What's your location? Suggest you fill out your profile.

Profile completed. Thanks for the reminder.

I would not be surprised if it is required here. Just something else I need to work on. I don't want to start much work until I get a handle on everything that I need to do. I know it is a LONG list and need to prioritize safety, comfort and cost.

A company called www.highangledriveline.com makes an e brake that is cable actuated at transfer case output. Don't know anything other than what was in a brief product summary but it sounds like it could have some great applications. Otherwise, my '73 OEM had the e brake from each of the rear drum brakes to a common connection centerline under the tub, then a single cable snaking its way toward the driver pedal. It would be pretty easy to run it straight centerline to some sort of lever I think. The lever just cuts down on center console possibilities. In the photo you see the two ebrake cables (shielded by anti chafe hose) going to their fitting with it kind of below the axle bump stop.

If you have the stock rear drum brakes, you already have what you need for a cable-actuated parking brake. All you need is a different way of actuating, like the XJ handle.
