Original canvas colors

    What were the original canvas colors for cj2's,3,and 5's. I'm talking about civilian tops. I figure the Cj2's and 3's came with olive drab, but does anyone know for sure, read the cj3b write up on canvas but didn't see this answered. Did early cj5's come with olive drab, or were they available in other colors? Thanks in advanced...

    According to the parts manual 2s & 3s came with "slate gray" & 5's had black canvas.

    Beachwood Canvas lists black, gray & tan for CJs.

    I'd like the roof to be black and in talking to Beachwood, it will be about $300.00 more for black canvas. The green canvas is over $1000.00 to begin with....I haven't been able to find anyone else who makes the original tops for cj5's....

    Black Canvas?

    I'd recommend getting a sample and doing some testing first.

    I bought a black canvas tarp for my Bantam trailer...and when it got wet that thing leached black dye enough to stain my paint.....:evil:

    I got most of it out with rubbing compound...but if you know where to look...:rofl:

    Man, I can remember a website about someone similar to Beachwood that does that stuff, but I just can't remember the name, and I can't find a bookmark.....

    I've found at least three other places to get original tops for cj2's and 3's, but can't find anyone else but Beachwoood.....don't get me wrong....Beachwood makes great tops, but the the other companies that make the 2 and 3 tops are alot cheaper...money wise...I'd love the seven piece top for my cj5...even if it was green....but Beachwood says that top is over $4000.00....my jeeps worth it...but my pockets are not that deep...

    FWIW I tried calling NLR earlier this summer for a vinyl trailer tarp, and they weren't taking new orders.

    Also FWIW that's where I bought the black canvas one that leached color so bad...
