Trailer values?

I saw a 1/4 ton military trailer sitting on a farm today. It has very little rust, blackout tail lights, and military tread tires. Does anyone have a rough guess of the value on one of these? The farmer hauls a welder around in it.

 

Round or square fenders? Are the grab bars verticle or horizontal?
Is there a tailgate or a handbrake in front?

I paid $275 for my '46 BT3-C. Restification is inwork, but at a minimum I will replace: floor, springs, shackles, bearings and wiring. So "worth" is directly related to how bad you want it IMHO. It's not uncommon to see restored trailers sell for well above 1K...

 

I paid $250, but I did not need to replace the floor or springs.

I wouldn't exactly call it cheap in the end though, after replacing all bearings, nuts/bolts, powdercoating (the rims, axle, hitch parts, and spring mounts), media blasting the tub, painting, undercoating, and new wiring and lights. Ok, so I got a little carried away.

 

I paid 850.00 (owner originally wanted 2000.00 for it!) for a clean and original one family owned 46 T3-C Bantam Civilian trailer. replaced all the bearings and grease seals, installed 3 new 7.00x16 NDCC military type tires, sandblasted and powder coated 3 wheels is all I have had to do to it. still have to bang out a few dings and paint it. total invested is around 1300.00 or so.
I am also adding upper shock mounts from a M100 and shocks to it to keep the trailer from bouncing around so much when it is empty or lightly loaded.
just before I found the Bantam I had located a pristine M416a1 that looked like it had never been used. price was 1350.00 for that trailer. I ended up with the Bantam mainly because of the factory tailgate and the Bantam was 15 minutes away from my home instead of a 2 hour drive for the M416.

 

It appears to be a WWll trailer. Does he have a registration/title? Should have no tailgate and have bolt together combat rims. Make sure it has the data tag w/ serial number and front brake. If all is correct w/ a correct/working wiring harness could be valued $1200-$1800 maybe more depending on condition of everything.
That does not mean you cannot offer less. I bought a jeep easily valued at $5000 for $1200 because I told the guy up front that is all I had and I didn't even have storage room for it. Is it sitting outside? That should tell you something right there.

It is sitting under a lean-to. I will probably be back there again soon so I can take a better look and maybe some pics. I know the guy and he would probably trade it for any little trailer that would haul his welder around the way this one does. He doesn't have a jeep, and probably bought it for a song or traded for it years ago.

 

Good deal if he would. A local fellow I met on my search for a 1/4 ton did just that for 1 of 4 his trailers. The old fella just said "get me another trailer and I'll trade it". He went to a local Home Depot and purchased one of those Snow Bear trailers.

Oh yes, I did say 1 of his 4 trailers. This fellow has 2 restored BT3-Cs, 1 restored T3 and another T3C w/ a rusted tub for parts. He wouldn't part with any of them.
