Tailgate chain info needed...

I have most of the details for the tailgate design for my M101cdn. I'd like to use chain/hook to support it while it's down and 'lock' it while in the upright position. I'd like to use something in size or somewhat close to what a BT3C uses. I could just find some old 1/4 ton trailer chains around, but would like to use stainless, so I'll have to order it from somewhere.

added the info I'm looking for to the attached pic which came from this thread...

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Wally

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    well
since the trailer pictured is mine, I'll try and get the info you want
the chains pictured were on it when I got the trailer
I have not changed anything; are they original ??? who knows
might want to check with member Boyink or his BT3C website for more details

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    here is what I measured:
    hole size: 3/8 and worn
hook opening: 5/8" best I can tell; my hooks are steel and can be bent/adjusted for tighter/looser fit
hook diam: 5/16" (you didn't ask)
    link diam: 1/4"
    link length: 1-3/8"
    link width: 3/4"
measurments given per what your diagram asked
    hope this helps

if possible could everyone else post a picture of what you are using to keep your tailgate closed? I have some funky knurled knobs and wing nuts holding my tailgate closed, the P.O. had them on the trailer when I bought it, they are a PIA to use. there are no tailgate chains. I thought about doing a cable and bracket like my CJ7's tailgate but I really don't want to weld anything on my trailer as I would like to keep it as original as possible.

I don't know crap about them but they look the same as on old Chevy stepside tailgates. Available in truck catalogues in regular or stainless steel. LMC Truck and Chevy Duty come to mind.
