My steel guy said they make scedule 10 and even 5 pipe that I can use on my cheap pipe bender that is as light and as strong as tubing. Was he just blowing smoke or is this true.

I just got a pipe bender for free so I'll be making some stuff up here soon. I'm thinking that sch. 40 is fine for anything except cages, which I'll only use dom.

Schedule 10 is going to be thin wall stuff. He probably didn't realize you were working on jeep stuff. I'd stick with at least schedule 40 for bumpers and such.

:p  to add to this can of worms, up untill 10" schedual 40 and standard are the same wall thickness. i have just went thru this exact same issue as i am adding on to my cage. if you use welded pipe, tou have a good chance of having the pipe split at the weld when you bend it. you can get seamless pipe, but it is really hard to bend as well ( in a 90) with out kinking. i found that 1 3/4" 120 wall tubing was only about a dollar more. i am still going to use pipe for the kickers as they have no bends.
