I am looking to put padding back on my rollbar. The last time I did it I went to a speed shop and bought it. Seemed pricey. I have gone to Lowes looking for pipe insulation but didn't find any that I thought that would work. Any suggestions of cheap material. My rollbar is 1 3/4"across.

    Thanks - Tim

are you looknig for you radding or also the wrap over it? I am in the same situation. Summit racing has padding that covers 1/2 or 3/4 of the bar and it isnt that expensive. I thoght about the pipe coverings but i think it may "shed" as is breaks down from the sun and heat. And the foam is not as clsoed scell as say the racing stuff. I think the racing stuff will absorb more of the blow to the roll bar than the pipe stuff and your skull ;)

Spend the coin and get the race padding.
Or if you have the stock roll bar, it seems like 4wd had the factory style listed.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

in the old days we used black foam pipe insulation
this came in 6' lengths from a refrigeration supply house
    came in various diameters
slice it with a razor blade for install; then contact cement the seam to close it up
most folks then covered it with duct tape/elec tape or ?
do you have a store called RSD around you ?

Thats what I was thinking of...I couldn't remember where or what it came from. Thanks....Planning on wrapping it with 2" electrical tape.

Hmmm...on Dutch I had bought some pre-made lengths of padding with a nice vinyl cover. I don't remember them being that 'spensive.

IMHO Electrical tape is going to look OK for a couple mos...then get gooey/dirty/slimy....

  7. If you have to use tape, then maybe the fabric backed electrical tape

Well I put padding on the rollbar. It turned out ok for now. I am planning on doing some changes to the rollbar and adding the cage so for now I am happy. I went with pipe insulation that I found at Lowes. It was alittle small but I made it work. I wrapped it with 2" electrical tape.

I was looking to make the rollbar softer and also wanted to cover up alittle more metal for this winter....hoping to keep the jeep warmer. Also maybe a little quieter (long shot).
