I need help locating a good used, new rebuilt or new master cylinder for my 1971 V6. All other brake components has been rebuilt. Never thought I would have so much trouble locating a mst cyl.

I need one with the dual reservior that mounts on the rails. Brake drums are 10".

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Just bought one the other day from Advance (flaps) $35.00
recommend you look locally before you buy online.

not a big can of rebuilt master cylinders, but they offered one for around $16 IIRC

A lot of the books list it as being for a dual wheel jeep which I thought was odd but it is the same one..

Yep, I ran in to the "dual wheel" notation in the book at NAPA. At first I ignored it but then eventually realized that's the one I needed. Had to order it and it was pricy but was a perfect match for my '70 w/ V6.

i got mine through autozone as much as i hate them (autozone). it didn't look like the one i had on the jeep but it has worked for 3 years with no problems. i took the m/c to a brake specialist and double checked it would work

    bringing back on old thread......

any of you guys that got the dual reservior master cylinder from advace or autozone still have the part number? i'd rather not buy from them, but $30 bucks versus $93 from krage makes it an easy choice, assuming advance/autozone sells me the right one. i don't care if it looks any different than the original, just as long as it works. anyone buying from advance/autozone, are you pleased with its function to date?
by the way, i'm running 11" drums on all 4 corners.

The one I got from Advance turned out to be CR@P. it had some sort of internal leak. I replaced it with one from auto zone and it works like a champ. one important note: although they both are made almost identical to the original MC, they both had the ports reversed from the original's position (front brakes attach to rear of MC). don't have the PN handy, but they just looked up 70 CJ5 in the computre for me.

i tried calling auto zone and they asked if i want it with or without the reservior. i explained it was an integral unit with no removable reservior, but their computer showed different. thats why i'm hoping to get a part number to give them. they did however say that it came with a lifetime warranty, and i know autozone is good about honoring their warranties. i hate advance and the people that work at the one local to me. i do everything i can to avoid that dump. and i plan to hook the rear port to the front brakes, in the convential fashion. thanks for the reply. now all i need is that part #.......

i'll head to autozone and see what they look like. i've never been to autozone's website. i usually just call. i'll use it more often.
remanufactured with a lifetime warranty and new with only a one year? seems kinda backwards. either way, it beats the heck out of spending near 100 bucks from krage. thanks
