They were selling them here fully equipped with AC, heater, stove, sink, etc. for about $12k. Nice little setup but again, small.

Mike I'm still gonna build me a TearDrop in another couple of years, they are just to cool lookin, compact and easy to tow to pass up. I have seen quite a few of them out on the road in the last yearand a half since I saw them on the travel channel.

 

I like it better too but there are some advantages to the T@B in that you can just pull over in bad weather, get inside and have a place to sit or prepare something to eat. I suppose it all comes down to your needs or what creature comforts you're willing to do without.

 

Definitely a 'no' for the Storey family! My wife is a bit claustrophobic! Heck, my camping tent is bigger than the big campers Mike posted a link on! The fellow scout campers referred to our 3 room tent as the Taj Mahal! (spelling? :? ) I'd love one if it were just me! Quite roomy compared to a military canvas pup tent!

 

What you guys are failing to understand is Teardrops were never intended to be bought you were suppose to build them in your garage, not pay an arm and a leg for them. If you do a search on them you will find hundreds of them that were homebuilt some 40 years ago still in service.

everyone knows what they are worth !

 

Jim I hope I don't come off sounding like a butthole but to build one of these takes minimal tools and minimal woodworking skills other than making it fancy or having a sheltered place to build it. If the guys on here can rebuild there transmission, transfercase or paint there Jeep, this little wooden trailer should be a snap. It takes like 6 sheets of plywood a bunch of 1"x2" wood, some aluminum sheeting a little glue, screws and some patience along with a $300 Harbor freight trailer.
Then 2-3 months later, voila cute little jeep trailer for 2!!!!

I just think there's more to it than what you say. If it was that easy, why hasn't everyone (here) built one?
I can have an idea about how I want to build something, but have a difficult time laying it out and actually building it; or it doesn't come out the way I planned
Some folks have a lot more talent for this sort of thing than others. Being able to fabricate from scratch is a wonderful thing.
I can do all those things you've spoken about.
I can read plans.
Mine would have metal/aluminum skin/siding.
My welding skills are lacking; without a major investment in some shop equipment, and the time and space to do it, it would be easier for me to just buy one, then make the mods to it that I want.
