Stomp On Brake Pedal To Get Brake Lights To Work

    Why? In order for the brake lights to come I have to stomp/push really hard on the brake pedal. Which as you might know brings the Jeep to a rather sudden stop. Something you usually don't want to happen. Is my brake light switch going bad? Or is it something else?

    I would suspect brake switch is out of adjustment

    if it's one of the switches that runs off of brake line pressure, you probably just need to replace that.

    The switch is mounted on the brake pedal, on a stud held there by a hairpin cotter pin. So the next question is how do I adjust it.
