Valve Guide Seals?

Rebuilding my 225 and it didnt have any valve guide seals, I figured they fell off. Looks like they never had them from new? But some companies make them but you have to cut the guides down. ANyone rebuild one and didnt use seals?

What does the TSM show? You could also try posting in the Early CJ-5 forum here - same engine, more exposure of your thread there.

 

I usually install umbrella seals on the valve stems if the springs have the room. Some double or dampened springs don’t have enough space for a seal without machining the top of the guide.

Are your guides & valves stem's brandie new ? If so , you'll never need ' Em. Or...... Do like Donny say's . He Know's

 

All valves new, engine shop replaced a couple guides. I was planning on not using seals , just wanted to know what everyone else was doing and results.
