I was looking for some replacement bolts for the dashboard on my Jeep. The large pan head straight blade screws weren't doing it for me. I found Midwest Military makes a reproduction. They come in half inch or one inch. My originals are 5/8" so I ordered one inch. Here they are next to an original.

At about $25 shipped for a pack of 20 they aren't super cheap but for a high visibility part it was worth it to me.

Here's the ebay link for anyone interested:

Great post. My only issue, and it's a minor nit picky one, is that I believe that the originals were some sort of dull galvanized finish. That being said, I'd use these in a heartbeat for replacements on a newly painted jeep.

Yes, I did note that. They are quite glossy compared to an original bolt. I wonder if they could be hit lightly with a sand blaster

As another option, the bolt shown on the left below is a new stainless 1/4-20 dash & floor screw sold by Totally Stainless ( http://www.totallystainless.com/ ), and the one on the right is an original with integral internal lockwasher.

I used the stainless bolts on my dash, but instead of using lockwashers, I used flat stainless washers against the paint, and put anti-seize on the threads when installing the stainless bolts in the original captive cage nuts.

I’ve got about 25 from Midwest in my box to get chromed. I don’t think these are reproductions, but surplus military contract bolts. The plating will dull down with a little weathering.
