I am trying to figure out exactly what fuel filter was used on these two years back in the day. The fuel filter clamp has a 2.0"ID when snugged down. Every single NOS fuel filter I am finding from that era are a std 5/16" inlet and outlet and all of them are 1.875"OD. I have one of the current steel replacement filters from Partsdude4x4 (same as Walcks, Kaiser Willy's etc) and it is loose in the clamp.

The parts manual through Rev3 only show the clamp and the filter. They do not show any type of rubber to help snug or take up the 1/8" of additional space between the clamp and filter.

Picture below of the filter clamp. Any of you old timers remember how the filter fit back then. Logic would say that it would slide in downwards and the lip would rest on the top edge of the clamp.

What gives? Am I completely missing something?

    I had found these.
    AC GF-61 approx 1 7/8" (1.875")
    AC GF-98
    GF-421
AC parts online calls out the GF61, however I have confirmed that it is a 1.875"OD so it would be loose in clamp.

Waiting on OD measurements of the GF98 and 421

jpflat2a, how did you come about the GF94 as a direct fit for what I am looking for?

Just googled the OEM 941071 Jeep part number.
    I don't like the price.
But you could contact and have measurement made just to be sure.
Is google ever wrong ?

Please do, because the next question that I have is the clamp -- viz, how do I get one? I have the braket, but need the clamp. Great thread.

    Sorry for the delay everyone.
Yes, the filter arrived. I can confirm that it fits the bracket. However it is barely snug (not tight in the clamp). Having said that, I assume this is by design to allow for heat expansion and manufacturing tolerances between different vendors.
With the hoses attached top and bottom it does not move.
I assume it's sole purpose is merely to keep the filter from rattling/moving back and forth due to engine vibrations and to also keep it from knocking on the block.

Years ago, I worked for an AC Delco parts house. Yeah, the GF94 was the fuel filter used on some of the 225s. The GF455 is the small bronze filter in the inlet of the carburetor.
