My Title and VIN say my CJ5 is a ‘67, yet it has a 6v system. My guess is that it’s had a tub swap. They weren’t still installing 6v in ‘67, right?

Around 1958 12 Volt became standard for Jeep CJ5. Why would the electrical system being wrong make you think it had a tub swap?

A lot of these old Jeeps have seen lots of changes. It would be strange for someone to have converted a 12 Volt Jeep to 6 Volt, but anything is possible.

A couple of pictures would help identify what you really have. My guess is that someone registered an older CJ5 using a title for a 1967.

Does it have a rectangular cover welded on the top of the cowl on the passenger side? Is there a plug in the passenger side of the hood?

IF it has a heater is it cable operated or vacuum switch operated?

Does the plate say "Willys" or "Kaiser Willys" ?

The hood does have the cover. I’ll look at the other things tomorrow and got back.

I'd bet the tub was swapped onto the older frame.

63 or more recent. Should have been 12V. 2x Glenn.

I'm also wondering if that's a repop tub since it doesn't appear to say Jeep on the side.

S/N plate is pop riveted on so quite likely there's been some mixing & matching happening.

Sorry…I must have had ‘sharing’ setting screwed up in Media. Should be fixed now.

    Cane parking brake handle..
beehive turn signals. Do you have a closer picture of speedometer,
Transmission would be a t90a vs t90c depending on year (no easy way to check)
Axle ratios would be 5.38 with t90a
Front would be a dana 25 for early and dana 27 for late ( check the number on the casting web)

Looks like a 57 With replacement tub and tailgate to me.

Interesting heater combination - the one under the glovebox would suggest about '56 or '57. And I don't see the later type front shroud air intake for the driver's side unit, which seems to be retro-fitted by Bubba.

So the front end at least could be six-volt era. Does the speedo go to "8," or "9" ?

Has the steering wheel with the small horn button, when did that change happen?

Yes, Bubba signed this one. Doesn’t seem too bad despite his visitation. Speedo goes to 9. I’ll post a pic tonight.

That would tend to say '57 or later.
