How Much Does My Jeep Weigh?

I'll throw in here.....Mine is ~ 3200 #'s with the Automatic.
Scott, with all that body work you've done ..... that hauler is not enough for your Jeep .

 

2x5x1/4 inch rails, lots of gussets and additional crossmembers, winch, Dana 44, Dana 60, SM465, heavy bumpers, roll cage outriggers, 3/8 thick sliders, internal plates in the frame at the joints, etc, etc. They all add up. The first time I weighed it, I was pretty shocked.

 

Got me thinking about how to shed pounds when I put this B together. I never weighed my 5. I'd be curious to weigh it empty vs. loaded with trail gear.

That 6 is heavy at almost 5k. All the extras really do add up though, as you said.

 

Not so much a 6. More like a 12.

I had a 3B and sitting stock, there wasn't anything to remove to lighten it. About all you can do is leave a gallon in the gas tank and maybe throw the windshield in the pickup bed.

 

The original jeep designers engineers in WWII already tried that.

 

It would be interesting to know what the average or mean life of a Jeep actually was in WWII. My guess is most didn't need a second oil change and the fatigue life of the wimpy frame was seldom exceeded. You can go cheap light but it doesn't bode well for longevity, at least not in a Jeep that is actually used for a Jeep.

 

my 5 with a glass tub and a 4x8 utility trailer and me 2945 according to the scrap yard scale.....i know their scale is a little light as the tri axle weighs 27500 at the gravel pit but only weighs 26975 at the scrap yard. it is in their favor to under weigh it gains profit.that said im guessing the jeep is around 3200

It's a beast......
We are looking at upgrading ourselves, but given we go on extended dry camping trips, we need large fresh/gray tanks, and I'm trying to keep the UVW down tends to limit our choices (and I refuse to pay 40K for a trailer that is going to be driven in and out of). We also like the open floor plans (in lieu of a separate garage) for hosting family and friends.
Finding these combinations locally is a bear.

 

Do you have a Truck Stop nearby? They usually have a commercial scale. A small fee and you have your answer.

 

RV Trader app is your best bet. There are only a few that fit your description.

 

If you didn't just pull the motor out of the jeep I would say to load it in and hit the scale.

Question on the trailer... how many kids will it sleep in the cargo area? Does the bed lower in a way to allow a bunk below?
