I've been thinking of "hanging" my hi lift from the roll bar, just behind the seats . No bodies in the back & I just access that area from the tailgate . Spare is side mounted.
I've already fabbed up some hangers & I know how I plan on doing it , but I was wonder'n on other's opinions on this Idea?
    Thanks,

“hanging” a hi lift Jack scares me. But as long as the mount is secure, I personally wouldn’t have a problem with it, especially if the Jack is wider than the roll bar - meaning it would have to literally slice through the roll bar tubing to reach the cab.

can you share images of the hangers you fabbed up?

Going to drill & tap the roll bar. On the foot side , I'm using one of these + a flat to support the side of the jack's foot. These are just 3/8" eyes . I'm gonna coat them in rubber on the part that goes trough the holes in the Jack. I'm gonna drill a hole in each one & install grenade pin's to keep it in place on the trails. Fairly basic idea. This is part of it :

You could also disassemble the foot and stash all that somewhere else too. On SSDutch I had the length of the jack attached to the floor in the "CJ6 space" then the foot parts all in a bag in the toolbox.

Thanks so much there Steam boat . I did not know of that link. Just ordered 2 of these........ That will work much better than what I was thinking. My Jack is 48" . In between my roll bar is ~ 49 1/2" . This is gonna be almost ' Drop In ' . I'll show & tell when I'm finished.
I love this Forum....... Keeps me Grounded .

I hang mine in the rafters of the garage. Only comes down to pull t-posts anymore. I think I used it when I first got my M416 to straighten a part of the tub that was kind of pushed in.

Useful for just about anything except changing tires. Here we need to get the suspension unloaded to get a diff cover off.

Notice the wheel chocks and the ratchet strap keeping the jack in place.

Rear tank blocked getting the diff cover bolts out. Needed space.

I would love to mount my jack to the roll bar. Problem is, my grandkids use the back seat. It is the lowest point on the rear of my Jeep though the way its mounted now. I've drug it a time or two.

This is somewhat Okie but it’s the setup I did about 12 years ago and it works so I never changed it. I didn’t want the highlift to affect approach or departure angles or the flip down windshield. In the Summer months this is stellar. In the winter months if I mount the soft top I roll up a few towels to protect the rear “glass”.

I'm going to make my million when I patent a folding hi-lift.

Not a lot of competition in the telescoping hi-lift market. All you need to do is come in at a price under $872 and you’re in business.

Actually in my work, I will slip (telescope) a common "lally column" over the shaft of my hi-lift, to support beams etc. as much as seven or eight feet up. Don't try this at home.
