Brake Lines And Exhaust Pipes

Is this going to be a problem? I obviously ran the brake lines before I put the engine in… And if so other than re-running the brake lines can I do anything about it like wrap the muffler or fabricate a heat shield?

 

I'd run it. I doubt it's going to cause you any issues.

 

I agree. However, radiant energy (such as the heat on your brake line) diminishes as the inverse square of the distance between the emitter and the receiver.
So, moving the brake line to the other side of the frame rail will put it about 3 times farther away from the exhaust pipe. Maybe 4 times.
Then it will receive 1/9th or even 1/16th the heat. Just sayin'.

 

Slice a 3” piece of 1/4” fuel hose lengthwise. Put it over the brake line at the exhaust.

 

Add this to the long list of things I’d do differently the second time I restore a Jeep

Couldn't you just change it now, seems like it would not be that bad to move it before you put the body on, I know it's a pita but it would be worth it to not think about it down the road. Just a Thought.

 

This. Looks too close to me. And no need for that.

 

I know you guys are right...but being as it's the RH front line I'd need to buy another roll of tube to have enough to make it over there - and drain and rebleed the brakes - so more than slight PITA. I'll mull it over.

 

I know the feeling. I accidentally nicked the longest stretch of line on mine after it was complete, had to buy another roll and take the time to fix it. It’s depressing, but you’ll kick yourself later if it does become a problem.

 

I go with what norcal69 suggested. my lines run the same as yours. i used rubber hosing as insulation. don't seem to have any issues
