    I agree, a cat on a jeep is life-changing.

I can’t help with the heat barrier. I used sound barrier stuff that I thought was for heat too, and I didn’t see that it wasn’t rated for heat until I had put it around everything hot. I thought for sure it was going to drip off like hot snot, but it’s held up just fine. (Knock on wood.)

Put a piece of body steel half-way between the floor and the muffler/cat. Air gap on both sides.

Back when I was maybe 10 or 11, the family went on vacation to Yellowstone. My Dad put a new muffler/exhaust on their 1959 Dodge station wagon before we left, and we towed a small travel trailer. Apparently the muffler was too close to the floor and burnt a hole through the carpet in the floor behind the driver's seat. One of us kids sat back there with a cup of water and poured water on the burnt spot when it started to smoulder. The heat burned right through the carpet and padding and left an exposed spot of steel floor maybe 2" across?

We got to Provo and a filling station mechanic/proprietor said he could fix it. He had an asbestos board which he cut to size and put between the muffler and the floor, somehow wired in place. He also sold us two new nylon-belted tires for reasons I can't recall. I do remember they would flat spot badly when cold, and smooth out as they warmed up.

I just got in a muffler wrap kit made from the same stuff. I have used it in the past with good results.

In my town people are losing their catalytic converters if they leave their vehicles unattended. One guy, for instance, was parked on a back road while hunting... The local lumber yard had all their delivery trucks hit one night...

I foolishly thought that crime-trend had faded away years ago.

I know a business that had 9 stole in one weekend
the biggest problem with converter thief is

the un-scrupulos scrap yards the take the stolen items
one of the first things removed from cars at pick&pull is the converters
now all yards do it now
before they are placed in yard

now back to installing converters on older vehicle just for the gas smell
newer cars still stink when people put there foot in it

I live about 8 miles away from your warehouse. I think your closer :)Takes a bit of time to cut out a dozen converters :waiting:..... Seems to me better surveillance is needed.

Even with video proof they still just let them go. A local sheriff caught some low lifers took them to jail.they were back in town before he had the paperwork filled out. With no penalties they won’t stop.
