Can anyone make sense of this? I am guessing those are the paint codes (which I am not following), but which colors are and where should that tag be attached?
    Thanks!

The tag goes high on the passenger side firewall. I'll translate the color and trim code when I get back home. Trim is the seat color and material.

Willys paint code 177 for 1962 (only year listed for the color) is "Fountain Green"

Translated PPG code 42793 and Dupont 181-84196

    I like the color.

Here's the one on our 71. Just recently got the tag too.

    Cool. Is someone reproducing those?

I would point out - the factory guys likely slapped those on fast as the Jeeps came down the line. I would not worry too much about exact placement.

I think jeepsterman made it for us.

I will keep my original even when it doesn't match my colors.

Alex, my parts book has trim code "62" as black, but my notes also show 162 as black. Yes, paint code 177 is fountain green as stated previously. This color was used from 1960 though 1962.
Ayden, your color code 226 is Presidential Red, and trim 340 is Charcoal for the seats.

What would the codes be for 1966 CJ5A painted in Presidential Red #2, and with Black trim? 226 and 247

Where did you find the 247 trim number? I would have expected #227. Do you have bucket seats or a bench seat?
Trim code #247 is listed as “charcoal” (black is #227). #247 corresponds to pattern code L-58, I believe a plain vinyl and used only for bucket seats. #227 (black) corresponds to pattern code L-45 which is listed as “pleated” and shows part numbers for both complete seats and cushion and back covers, all specific to the CJ5a Tux with the 2/3- 1 /3 seats.

I was sent that picture by Sam at PartsDude who makes the tags. I have what I think are original bucket seats that are being restored with black vinyl with horizontal pleats at a shop in Sparks, so that’s what I decided to go with.
