Put fenders back on this morning after a work call and email. Just back from test drive. It was WORSE then with hole in piston!! Checked plug wires and found 3-5 crossed. Going to take Cynthia and dogs up in the hills for a hike (in truck) and test again later.

    How was the oil pressure?

About normal. Which is Low when warm.

I did do a second short test drive. Ran much better but Power is definitely off from Dauntless standards. I should have spent more time grinding on the head to get a better seal. That value seat was messed up. As long as it doesn’t blow up again I think I’ll be able to keep up with the rest of the old Jeeps next week.

Well, you've lost 30% of your power being at 10,000 ft elevation, and 1/6 of your power with that cylinder, so....

Edit- does that cylinder have any compression?

Good news is there is less wind resistance with elevation.

Still more power than a 4cyl would have...in lo range it don't matter. I can bring a compression gauge if interested to test cylinder.

Before this is over, I want to see you making a piston from a pine tree, using your jacknife.

Drove “down” to Buena Vista about 40mi at 55-60mph glad I was able to get a trailer ride back “up” to Leadville. Plenty of power for the trail but not so much at high speed up hill or up wind.

Plenty of power for off-roading. Spinning all 4 wheels.
