Is This An O.e. Jack?

This jack and wrench were in the tool box under the passenger seat of the '70 CJ5 I just brought home. It took a couple days of soaking to break it free, looks like original color was dark green. I've seen this type of jack before, wondering if it would have been original equipment on this Jeep?

Could be, although a real expert could discern minor variations between jeep OEM and other similar jacks.

Definitely looks like the one that came with my dad's 67 Commando. Use to mount under the passenger seat base towards the drivers seat top to passenger side, expand until it holds itself in. Looks like that is a very complete Jeep!

Will do! Or, maybe I'll just take a hacksaw and a file to the one I've got.

This is what I have. There was this small cotton strap around, but I don't know if it belongs to it. cric.JPG

Alan, where was the footman loop originally attached? Somewhere inside of the under seat tool box?...

That's the first mount I've ever seen. Very nice...

I don't know, all was in the box under the passenger seat.. I never used it but it is very clever system.

It looks like it might be a windshield tie down strap.

Our Tux when new had the same jack (but painted black) and the short lug wrench loose under the passenger seat/toolbox. Going down washboard roads caused them to make an awful rattle. We eventually put a piece of rubber floormat in there to help quiet things, but that just accelerated the rust on the floor.
