Changed the earl in the heap. and the filter. Fired it up to build oil pressure. It did. Shut er down. 4 days later just sittin and oil is leaking out the rear main profusley. Guess it's to for the dreaded rear main seal repair. All I lack is a box of ambition.

Is that a 2 piece seal like the 4.0s?

I feel your pain. I have a rear main seal in the glove box and 710 stains all over the driveway after I dropped and chipped the clutch disk.

The 2 part rear mains aren't too bad as long as the upper seal comes out easy, but a 4 piece pan gasket sounds like a jigsaw puzzle held together with gasket sealer.

If it's a 6 you can get a one piece pan gasket for it now. Regardless one of my least favorite jobs. Did one on my 258 ten years ago and the 304 this year. They were both lame.
