Cracked Frame Help

    Started cleaning up frame today. Came across what looks like a crack near front passenger side shackle.

    best way to repair? Does anyone make a replacement section or do I need to custom make it?

    V it out inside and out and weld it up. You might think about boxing it a little more also

    Then again, the existing boxing seems to have possibly started the stress risers that cracked the frame on both ends of the boxing... :)

    I wish some of my frames looked as solid as yours. Thats an extensive crack that needs proper welding. Don't even consider a new section or "custom" fabrication for that. Grind out the crack from both sides, and crank up the amps to get deep penetration. This easy for a good welder. That boxing plate was a band-aid that needs to be removed for proper access to the long crack in the corner.
    There are likely more cracks to be found, so get them all repaired at the same time.

    Yup, all you're doing is moving, & maybe concentrating, the stress points. :( If you need to re-enforce the hangers , lacking a detailed analysis of the frame structure, there are better designs for reinforcement plates that spread the stress around a bit.

    Find the end of the crack & drill a 1/8" or so hole at that point- the rounded hole stops the crack from propagating; then V & weld the crack as suggested.

    Looks a lot like the damage I just fixed on Fino's frame. You look to have cracks and seams along the 90 bend outside the hanger as well. Look deeper and find all the issues, it may require more than just crack welding in the end.
