OK, so I drove this thing around for the first time yesterday, and I have to say the ergonomics really suck! The steering wjeel is practically in my lap, and I can barely shift it without my left knee hitting the turn signal stalk. I guess it's going to get a tilt column….

Very nice. I think this is a great purchase. I have heard great things about fluid film for the type rust you have. That waxy stuff on top of some of these rust inhibitor rattle can paints should keep it at bay for a long time. That upholstery looks very nice. (y)

On the accessories I like the transistor radio. Instant on and no warm up required. My 59 Ford in high school had one of those tube radios.

What type of wheels and tires are you going to use? (Sorry if I missed it)

No, it's not a 180MPH speedometer it's in KPH...i'll have to take it apart & change the face.

    That's pretty cool.

I would leave it KPH. Then you could brag on your top speed at 100+.

180 kph is 111 mph. After I swap an LS into it, no problem!

I just picked up a 67 for all of those same reasons. The CJ will be doing the short runs and driven to keep the battery charged.

I had a 69 Dauntless V6 Turbo 400 Commando Turquoise Blue with a White Hardtop. With factory sliding back windows, padded rear armrest, chrome roof rack, and the same exact Air Conditioning. NEVER should have sold it. Still kicking myself.

So here's why I wanted this thing-
    Top up

    Going down.... 20210812_163340.jpg

    Top down!

Elapsed time, about 30 seconds. It literally takes longer to roll the windows down than to lower the top.

I would like to see how the Saginaw steering is mounted to the frame. Is the Saginaw steering stock or is it A conversion ?

    Thanks .

Stock Saginaw. JCs got Saginaw steering in mid 70, some even had PS.
Where I have it parked for the winter, I really can't get access to the front to take any pictures, but if you look at my previous post from 6-6-20 there's a picture of the steering.
