This works pretty well once you fix it. a neighbor gave me this 3-1 many years ago, I could never get the slip roll to work properly and finally decided to investigate and fix...




Bottom roller wouldnt come up/adjust to the upper roller




After some light machining, it can be seen that the hole was not machined on center


Upper tab is a through hole, lower is threaded, and a cap to finish it all off once its welded.




Once it was all welded, I ran it through the mill. I didnt really want to take away the weld but wanted to make sure the cap plate would sit down flush


It was a pain to weld cast dirty steel. had to go over a few areas, the weld would start rising once you let off.


Also finally fixed the stop for the shear, the hole drilled in the table was off by about 1/8".

Over all. If I would of bought this at HF I would have taken it right back. If I would have bought this from a CL I would have been pissed.
