198 V6 Clutch Fork Boot

    Hey all,
    I know its rare but i am trying to find a clutch fork boot or whatever they are called for the bell housing that works with my 198 v6. I think that bellhousing works with other engines but not really sure. I just dont know how to get one since i assume they dont make those anymore. Thoughts? Help!

    Or try TA Performance. The 198 bell pattern is the same as the Buick 215 cid aluminum V8, which went over to the Old Dart for use in lots of Rovers. There may be something available from one of those applications.

    They don’t have it. They have a 80s version.

    The 198 and aluminum 215 engines appeared in Buicks in 1964-ish. I'd have to look at the listings to find cars with that engine. The engine design and tooling was sold to British Leyland(?) I expect any Range Rover will have one of these aluminum V8 engines. Others here know more about the Rovers than I do.

    Thanks but from my research it has to be like the 215 not the 225 but not 100% sure yet. Need to get under there and measure.

    Just FYI, the clutch fork hole in the bell housing of the 225 V6 is approx. 2-3/16" x 3"

    Thanks. I still need to get out there and measure, but i thought it was not the same as a 225. We'll see.

    There is a very low profile (as apposed to the ones shown above) boot made by the company Soffseal that is supposed to fit 1961-62 Buick Specials and Skylarks. They are proud of their product. I thought I would post the link for a size comparison to the other boots shown in this thread.

    Make sure you measure the opening accurately and look at the profile of the release arm. There are tons of different boots for GM bellhousings.

    Right that’s what makes us a little part so crazy to try to find it seems.
